Madame Butterfly

Tonight I went to see an opera set in Japan concerning an american (and japanese people) was performed in Italian, translated into french and comprehended in english- sigh plus I saw it with two canadians and a russian- needless to say, it was an international night. Unfortunately, in my rush to get out the door in time, I forgot to bring my camera with me!
It was good-the music of course was beautiful.

Back in Black

I'm back in paris and I have my camera charger with me! horay! which means I'll be uploading pictures as soon as I can from break but I will also be able to take pictures of random things I find interesting again. I was lost without it.
Yesterday was my first day of my second semester here at sciences-po. However, my professor never showed up! The class just waited around for 45 minutes and decided that we weren't going to wait any longer because no one knew anything. I believe it was due to the mechanical issues they were having on RER B- it's always RER B! But je ne sais pas. The prof hasn't even e-mailed us an explanation yet!
So I hope today my professor actually shows up or I'll be upset that I didn't find a better way to spend my time.

Finals Week/Hell Week

I have had a cold since last thursday-only thursday despite it being seemingly a lifetime ago. Studying for finals and being sick has to be the worst combination ever. Scratch that-the worst combination ever is 4 hour cold medicine, (when you're supposed to get 8 hours of sleep... think about it medicine man) and pseudophed PE. I need my methamphedamines. No I'm not a drug addict, it is just that whatever PE stands for and makes the meds available over the counter instead of behind it makes the stuff not work quite as well. But no the stupid meth addicts had to go and get the only cold medicine that actually helps difficult to find and making me end up in france with only PE thanks a lot-really way to go.
I had a final monday morning. It wasn't that great of a morning. I thought I was going to pass out or worse have a seizure and have to deal with all that crap while on the metro on my way to the exam. What's worse than having to deal with seizures and neurologists in the US? I can only assume dealing with neurologists in France. Then I got to class I managed to sit down and pull myself together for 15 minutes before I felt I had to laydown- of course the test hall is not going to be the best place to do that so I go to the proctor and ask to leave. She immediately thinks I'm trying to cheat but I think she then realized that I looked probably like a zombie so she took me to the nurse. The nurse wasn't in yet but the operators -kinda like school concierges opened the door and let me lay down and the couch and wait for the nurse. But due to the snow-she was late. the nurse was also sick and she didn't speak english-bilingual school... but not bilingual nurse, brilliant! So I tried to explain to her how I felt she made me choke down some nasty chalky water mix to help calm my stomach etc. apparently they do not have pills in france because she also gave me another great chalky water mix to break my fever or something.  So I spent an hour in the nurse's office before returning to the exam room where I swear the one proctor lady was watching over me like a hawk either thinking I was going to cheat or feint or possibly both. I managed to finish a crummy essay, it was in french-great because I feel like crap and I have to write an essay in a foreign language. It kinda reminded me of the essays you write for the AP exams I hope that it passes french standards. I suppose we'll find out.

One final down two to go. Yipee skipee.
